See what your snacks really mean for your day.
Overview
SnackScan is a nutrition-analysis app that turns food labels into movement metrics.
Instead of asking users to count calories, it reframes energy intake through the lens of time and activity—showing how long a snack takes to “balance out” in practical, physical terms.
Purpose
Most people don’t intuitively understand food energy. SnackScan was built to make that data tangible.
By pointing the camera at any nutrition label, the app converts kilojoules into estimated minutes of walking, running, or cycling, based on the user’s own profile.
It’s designed to encourage awareness, not restriction—helping users see context before making a choice.
Approach
Built using Apple’s VisionKit and SwiftUI, SnackScan reads label data directly through the camera, applies energy-conversion logic, and displays real-time visualisation of energy balance.
The goal was not another calorie counter but a system that teaches intuitive literacy in nutrition and energy trade-offs.
Key Features
- Vision-based label scanning — no manual entry required.
- Instant energy-to-activity translation.
- Customisable exercise profiles and baseline energy context.
- “Daily Story” view showing enjoyed, planned, and remaining energy.
- Optional SnackScan Premium tier for advanced tracking and planning.
Technology
SwiftUI · VisionKit · CoreML
Outcome
SnackScan launched on the App Store in 2025 as the first public product under Giovenco Strategics.
It demonstrates the principle of clarity through design: transforming abstract data into decisions that are immediate, contextual, and humane.
